Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) In pursuit of economic development and growth, G-Tap shall provide leadership in the fast-tracking Kenya’s adherence to key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Targets specifically focused on environmental sustainability:
No Poverty

GOAL 1

End poverty in all its forms everywhere

Build the resilience of the poor and those in vulnerable situations and reduce their exposure and vulnerability to climate-related extreme events and other economic, social and environmental shocks and disasters. Ensure equal rights to economic resources, access to basic services, ownership and control over land and other forms of property, inheritance, natural resources, appropriate new technology and financial services.

Zero Hunger

GOAL 2

End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture

Ensure sustainable food production systems and implement resilient agricultural practices that increase productivity and production, help maintain ecosystems, strengthen capacity for adaptation to climate change, extreme weather, drought, flooding and other disasters, and progressively improve land and soil quality.

Good Health and Well-Being

GOAL 3

Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages

Substantially reduce the number of deaths and illnesses from hazardous chemicals and air, water and soil pollution and contamination. Strengthen the prevention and treatment of communicable and non-communicable diseases, and promote mental health and well-being across all age groups.

Quality Education

GOAL 4

Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all

 

Ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development, including education for sustainable lifestyles, human rights, gender equality, promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence, global citizenship, and appreciation of cultural diversity and culture’s contribution to sustainable development.

Gender Equality

GOAL 5

Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls

End all forms of discrimination against all women and girls everywhere. Eliminate all forms of violence, including trafficking and sexual and other types of exploitation. Ensure women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making in political, economic and public life.

Clean Water and Sanitation

GOAL 6

Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all

Achieve universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water for all. Improve water quality by reducing pollution, eliminating dumping and minimizing release of hazardous chemicals and materials, halving the proportion of untreated wastewater, and substantially increasing recycling and safe reuse globally.

Affordable and Clean Energy

GOAL 7

Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all

Increase substantially the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix. Double the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency and enhance international cooperation to facilitate access to clean energy research and technology, including renewable energy, energy efficiency and advanced cleaner fossil-fuel technology.

Decent Work and Economic Growth

GOAL 8

Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all

Support productive activities, decent job creation, entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation, and encourage the formalization and growth of micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises. Improve resource efficiency in consumption and production and decouple economic growth from environmental degradation.

Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

GOAL 9

Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation

Develop quality, reliable, sustainable and resilient infrastructure, including regional and transborder infrastructure, to support economic development and human well-being, with a focus on affordable and equitable access for all. Enhance scientific research and upgrade technological capabilities.

Reduced Inequalities

GOAL 10

Reduce inequality within and among countries

Ensure equal opportunity and reduce inequalities of outcome, including by eliminating discriminatory laws, policies and practices and promoting appropriate legislation, policies and action in this regard. Facilitate orderly, safe, regular and responsible migration and mobility of people.

Sustainable Cities and Communities

GOAL 11

Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable

Ensure access for all to adequate, safe and affordable housing and basic services and upgrade slums. Provide access to safe, affordable, accessible and sustainable transport systems for all, improving road safety and expanding public transport, with special attention to vulnerable populations.

Responsible Consumption and Production

GOAL 12

Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns

Achieve the sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources. Substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse. Encourage companies, especially large and transnational companies, to adopt sustainable practices and integrate sustainability information into their reporting cycle.

Climate Action

GOAL 13

Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts

Strengthen resilience and adaptive capacity to climate-related hazards and natural disasters in all countries. Integrate climate change measures into national policies, strategies and planning, and improve education, awareness-raising and human and institutional capacity on climate change mitigation, adaptation and early warning.

Life Below Water

GOAL 14

Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development

Prevent and significantly reduce marine pollution of all kinds, particularly from land-based activities, including marine debris and nutrient pollution. Sustainably manage and protect marine and coastal ecosystems to avoid significant adverse impacts and strengthen their resilience.

Life on Land

GOAL 15

Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss

Ensure the conservation, restoration and sustainable use of terrestrial and inland freshwater ecosystems and their services, in particular forests, wetlands, mountains and drylands, in line with obligations under international agreements.

Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions

GOAL 16

Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels

Promote the rule of law at the national and international levels, ensure equal access to justice for all, reduce corruption and bribery, and develop effective, accountable and transparent institutions.

Partnerships for the Goals

GOAL 17

Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development

Enhance North–South, South–South and triangular regional and international cooperation on and access to science, technology and innovation, and promote effective public, public-private and civil society partnerships.
